Step by step
- Wait a few business days after the crash (longer for serious crashes still under investigation).
- Have your details ready: the involved person's name, plus the last four digits of their driver's license or the case number from the exchange slip officers gave you at the scene.
- Buy the PDF from the ITD portal ($7 + fees), or request free/at-cost copies directly from the investigating agency — every county page below lists the sheriff and city police records offices.
- Check the report for errors (plate numbers, direction of travel, statements). The investigating agency can amend factual mistakes.
